24th November 2007, My Birthday :D

Went to The Pete's Place at Grand Hyatt to celebrate. Just the two of us (: The services and the quality of the foods are excellent. Except the free flow of breads and salads that made us can't finish our main course! lol. The evening was perfect. Everything was perfect. Way too perfect.

Love the presents you gave. It fits perfectly!

Also love the ugliest creature u got for me!

After dinner, we went to shop.

First time in my life, someone made this day so special for me.
its just so special, so special from the other 17 years. I’m so touched.

Anyway, I had my first birthday celebration with Qin and friends at Swensen’s.
You guys are great! =D I really enjoyed myself!

Im super tired from all the morning lessons, how i wished school is just a distance away. Im too lazy to get started on the report, i really have to start doing it during this coming weekends. Today morning really freaked me out, while i was in the train my stomach was hurting so badly that it made my vision so blurry and i thought i was going to collapse any moment. I managed to hang on and make my way out slowly, found a place to sit and i was perspiring alot. It hurts so badly that i almost wanted to ask passerby to help me call the ambulance. Haha, it sounds so stupid and i dont know why the hell i would think of that, guess the pain was really unbearable. Anyway after resting for like 5 mins, the pain sort of ease off and im glad the nightmare was over. It can be really scary if that happens again and i probably have to go for a check-up. Lacking of sleep maybe the caused of this and i better sleep early tonight. Gd night.

"Promise"
What would you say if I asked you not to go
To forget everyone, forget everything and start over with me
Would you take my hand and never let me go
Promise me you'll never let me go
And now the stars aren't out tonight,
But neither are we to look up at them
Why does hello feel like goodbye?
These memories can't replace,
These wishes I wished and dreams I chased
Take this broken heart and make it right
I feel like I've lost everything when you're gone
Left remembering what it's like to have you here with me
I thought you should know,
You're not making this easy
I never thought I'd be the one to say
Please don't, well please don't leave me
I feel like I've lost everything when you're gone
Left remembering what it's like to have you here with me
I thought you should know,
You're not making this easy
Promise me...
You'll never let go
Make this last forever
I'll fall asleep tonight, 'cause that brings me closer to you

Didn't go for training today because have to reach home early to have dinner with my mum to celebrate her birthday. Got our timetable for this term, dont know why isit different from what i checked online. First day of sch already receive the In-course assessment II, Presentations! which is what i detest most. I have not even started on my Report, this term is sure gonna be a busy one for everybody. Anyway the school declared that it will be a holiday for us tomorrow as a celebration of achieving the Harvard innovation award. Guess tomorrow will be a good time to start on my report and also ask ppl out.
I need you like the Ocean needs the tide.
Without you, there wont be me either.

Whats the use of doubting someone when it doesnt do good to both parties.
If it really happens, there's really nothing you can do about it.
So why not just be happy and let things go the way it is.

Before i left house today, i heard from Huiqin that our class's timetable is out in the school's website so i went to have a look. Well slightly better compared to last term. Met out with some friends today to pass them some souvenirs i got from China and we are planning to go a short trip during November, perhaps Bintan? I would really love to go there because that place is famous for their water sports. I guess i will be asking my mum about it during this week and that means good girl for the rest of this week:p

A Little Thing Called Love;

Yup.. Finally the 2 weeks is over, did enjoyed myself over there however i felt that Singapore is still the best.

28 Sept 2007

Finally its bed time, was feeling so tired the whole day. I didn’t sleep well the day before because I was too excited for the trip. My mum, dad and aunt accompanied me to the airport to send me off, and after 2 hours we were on the plane to Shanghai already. We reached Shanghai at about 3.30pm and we got off the plane straight without going through the tunnel, unlike Singapore. There are buses fetching us to the airport where we will retrieve our luggage and pass through the customs. We managed to get a bus which will reach our hotel and the bus journey was almost 2 hours. Their sun rise and sun fall is different from Singapore; the sky is already dark when it’s only 5.30pm. The hotels’ condition and service were up to standard, however I didn’t like their food here and after walking around our hotel, we end up having MacDonald for our dinner. We had a short briefing after dinner where everyone is allowed to voice out. We are in a different country, practically everything’s different and we ought to learn to adapt to the environment such as the congested traffic and weather etc.

29 Sept 2007

I woke up about 7.30am today to have the complimentary breakfast with some of them and I guess we will not have breakfast there again because the food is so tasteless. After breakfast, we went to Shanghais’ version of Raffles City, walked around that area and we came to this place which is opposite of Oriental Pearl Tower which was quite a messy place. The whole place was very crowded with people selling souvenirs and I guess we attracted too much attention and we end up having lots of people following us to sell their souvenirs. Worst thing is Gabriel almost got robbed, luckily Melvin was alert and he told the pickpocket off. This is one lesson we learnt today that we have to look after our own belongings with more precautions. We lost our way on our way back and thanks to Melvin for navigating the area, we managed to get back to the hotel. Once again we had a short meeting about today before going to bed.

30 Sept 2007

We went shopping early in the morning to the Flea market where lots of cheap bargains are sold and we were split into two groups. Unfortunately, my group didn’t manage to shop at the Flea market because we were pestered by a guy who insisted that we patronize his shop. We managed to get Ms Faith to handle the situation and after being told off by Ms Faith, that guy walked away. We decided to meet the rest at another place, in case the guy comes back to us again. It’s really a pity because the rest of them bought a lot of things at a cheap price. During the meeting, we talked about what happened at the Flea market. Ms Faith felt that we should be more firm to change the approach and get out of our comfort zone when the guy was pestering us. I believe after today, if there’s any similar case like this, we will be able to handle it more wisely.

1 Oct 2007

Despite sleeping very late last night, I agreed to join the guys to play Basketball early in the morning today. When we are back at the hotel, we took the stairs instead. It is a really good training for me as I had missed out lots of training and hopefully my stamina improves when I’m back in Singapore. Took a quick shower and we split up to take a cab to JiangWan Stadium to meet the organizers regarding our job duties and we were given tickets to the opening ceremony tomorrow. We went to this Special Olympic Town nearby which is specially for the VIPs, at there we tried many different sports and helped out a little at the floor hockey’s booth. It was really a good hand on experience as we are able to know more about other kinds of sports. Gabriel got a nosebleed while helping out, he probably overheated himself too much. Serene and I accompanied him to the toilet to help stop the nosebleed. I’m going to bed early tonight because tomorrow, we will be having a meeting with our supervisor.

2 Oct 2007

I really enjoyed myself today because I had just returned from the Special Olympics Ceremony. It was really a rare opportunity to watch the ceremony, the fireworks displayed was really very nice. I took a lot of pictures and videos of the ceremony today and I can’t wait to show it to my friends in Singapore how spectacular is the ceremony. Meeting with Ryan today was a short and quick one, we were given a set of questions to interview the athletes and because we have to run two places, we will be split into two groups. Ryan was really a nice supervisor, he provided cab fare for us to travel to our working places. I really appreciate this a lot because it will be more convenient for us, thus we shouldn’t be late for work. Anyway my group did a template for the questions he gave us so it will be easier for us when we interview the athletes. Tomorrow my group will not be working because it is an off day for us and we will be starting work on Thursday.

3 Oct 2007

It’s an off day today! I slept till quite late today and was feeling so bored and lonely because serene wasn’t around. I went down to get the internet service because I need to check my exam results and in the end I had to ask my friend to help me with it because the page can’t load at all. Serene came back around lunch time and all of us went lunch with Ms Faith at the Halal stall. I was slacking and organizing my stuff the whole afternoon, chatted with some of my classmates online. Everyone was talking about the release of results. I can’t stay up late tonight because tomorrow will be my first day of work.

4 Oct 2007

Today is such a bad day. There were some mis-communication and we end up reporting to the wrong venue. We got a hard time finding the actual venue because the actual address given wasn’t clear enough and after some time we managed to reach the place. However the road was closed to vehicles so we had to get down from our cab and walked quite a long distance to the starting point. When we reached there, it’s already too late. The two elite athletes that we are supposed to interview had already finished the race long ago and had gone back. Our person in-charge was rather unhappy because we were suppose to report to him at 8.30. Since the two elite athletes had left, we no longer have to stay around that area so we met up with Ms faith and had our lunch at the nearby Wanda Shopping Mall. After our lunch we went to this food mall where all their local snacks were sold, bought lots of souvenirs for my friends and relatives. Although our first working day was a bad start, we did learn a lot today from our mistakes and it is a good experience.

5 Oct 2007

Ryan had given an off day to the Athletics’ group today but we can choose to follow the Aquatics’ group as yesterday didn’t turn out good and we didn’t manage to interview the athletes. The aquatics’ group had already started interviewing athletes yesterday and the respond was good as they had interviewed quite a no. of elite athletes. When we reached there, we split into two groups and Melissa assisted us by asking the coach whether we could interview their elite athletes. I did my first interview with a girl named Sarah, she was one of the elite athletes from New Zealand and I really enjoyed interviewing her as she was very friendly. Initially I was very nervous interviewing them because I was afraid that I couldn’t communicate well with them but everything turned out fine. Interviewed about 6 elite athletes today and one of them even gave me a pencil from Scotland! Today’s experience was good, even though they are mentally disabled, I can still see the winning spirit that all the athletes possessed. Some almost gave up the race but after much support given by the audience, the athlete completes the race because he does not want to disappoint us. To me, this Special Olympics is totally different compared to other competition. I felt very proud of them even though they are mentally disabled.

6 Oct 2007
The Athletics’ group was assigned to go to the Shanghai stadium today to interview elite athletes from different countries. We reported to Mr. Janusz Rozum when we reached Shanghai Stadium and he asked us to check the schedule of the day’s events. After that we went to the Athletes’ resting area to look for the athletes we are supposed to interview and some other elite athletes. Everything went very smoothly and even though for some countries, we had difficulties in communicating with them, we managed to get a translator to help us with the interview. I was really happy when I saw the Singapore team and I managed to interview one of their elite athletes, too bad I didn’t get down their coach’s contact no. if not we can meet up with the rest of the athletes. After today’s experience, it really inspires me to learn many different languages, even sign language because I want to interact and know more about them.

7 Oct 2007

10 days in Shanghai and its finally raining, was told that most likely there will be a typhoon in the afternoon. Luckily we didn’t meet with the typhoon, if not we cant interview anymore elite athletes already. Hahas, its raining so heavily now and some of them are still outside. I hope they will be ok and wouldn’t meet with the typhoon. We met the Singapore Team again at the Shanghai Stadium again. Serene and me spoke to the Head of Delegation of Singapore Team about meeting up with the Singapore atheletes. I managed to get the contact no. of the coach so as to meet up one of these days before they return to Singapore. All the interviews today went good and tomorrow will be the prize giving ceremony, so we have to reach there early so as to interview those top athletes. I MISS SINGAPORE SO MUCH! 5 more days Singapore!

8 Oct 2007

Oh my gosh, when it rains, it rains non-stop. It’s the typhoon period now and it’s a good experience because in Singapore, we will not experience such strong wind. It was really so heavily today, instead of reporting work to Shanghai Stadium we went to join the other group at Pudong Natatorium. While walking to the Hongkou Stadium to take the bus, the wind was so strong that 2 umbrellas we brought were spoilt; this shows how strong the wind is. After long bus journey, we finally reached Pudong. Again, it was fun interviewing the athletes; you get to know what made them join the Olympics etc. The bus journey to and back was almost 5 hours, due to the congested jam and because it was raining heavily. Some of us want to experience the cold wind so we had dinner outside. Hopefully the weather gets better tomorrow=)

9 Oct 2007

The weather was nice today without the rain, it was just cold wind. Reported to work as usual, after work we met Ryan to get our T-shirts but guess we will not get to wear it in china because most of our work are done. We met the rest who are shopping at the Cheng Huang Miao where lots of historical stuff of Shanghai was sold. Walked to the People’s Square area where it’s the business district of Shanghai, had our dinner there and we cab home. There will be no work for us tomorrow so I assume today was the last day of work for us. Finally we are going back!

These posts are practically some entries during my stay in China.
After interacting with these special athletes, i realised how silly i was in the past complaining how unfair my life is. In fact, these people doesn't complain at all. I should really start appreciating everything around me and stop whining.
